Launchpad stamp of approvalThe Enoggera YMCA opened its doors on February 2nd 2009. It is the new home of the Y-North gymnastics club which was housed in Windsor for over 20 years until a compulsory resumption occurred in April 2008 to make way for the Northern Bus way. The Enoggera YMCA offers gymnastics services and programs that cater for children from 14 months of age through to young adults.

The Enoggera YMCA is a gymnastics facility in the North Side of Brisbane. With a floor area of 300 square metres the facility houses a full sized Competitive Sprung floor, run up and vault area, balance beams, high and uneven bar as well as boy's rings, pommel and parallel bars. The entire training area and equipment have permanent safety matting to ensure all children are safe as they develop their skills.

Gymnastics & Kindergym

Gymnastics is the ideal way to tumble, jump and spin into fun and fitness at your local YMCA! Gymnastics truly is the program to help children develop in body, mind and spirit.

We offer a range of gymnastics classes for children from the age of 10 months. Our programs encourage children to participate in a safe and structured environment, and offers age and skill based progression from kinder gym through to competitive National Levels classes.

  • Gym Tots (walking to 3.5yrs)

    YMCA Gymnastics - Gym Tots

    Children attend with a parent (or other adults) for a stimulating 45 minute movement and play experience with opportunities to explore and develop their physical abilities. Activities include gross motor skills such as running, jumping, hopping, hanging, climbing, rolling, balancing and swinging, plus many finer motor activities to stimulate foot/hand/eye co-ordination, all in a safe environment. Children benefit by developing self-confidence, body awareness and body control while laying good foundations of balance, agility and general physical co-ordination.

  • Mini Gym (3.5 years - 5 years)

    This program is an extension of Gym Tots except without parent participation. Mini caters for children 3.5 to 5yrs of age. The program helps the development of motor control including coordination and balance, increased body awareness and enhanced social development. For e.g. learning to share, take turns and the ability to follow instructions. This is also a great help

School Aged Children

  • Prep (5-6 years)

    This program is designed especially for children attending prep at school. It is an extension of the Mini Gym program but is not quite as advanced as our Step 1 and 2 classes. Prep focuses on balance, co-ordination and the basics skills of gymnastics. This class prepares children for our STEPS program. Read More +
  • Non-competitive Gymnastics (Steps 1-6)

    Six STEPS of skill and fitness development. Students are to be able to move through our steps program at their pace. The program focuses on the dominant movement patterns and helps with balance and co-ordination. Gymnasts will begin learning the basic skills in gymnastics in a non-competitive atmosphere.

    Our emphasis is on the gymnast's skill improvements and following the path through the steps program.

Level and Competitive Gymnastics by Selection

  • Development Squads for Boys and Girls / Levels 3+ (by selection)

    When children reach the higher levels, the difficulty of their work increases and this requires more time to be spent in the pursuit of excellence. Assessment is conducted at external Gymnastics Queensland events enabling progression to the next level. Individual competition is available at our Club Championships each year as well as invitational competitions, Regional and State Championships.

  • Gym Fit - 10-15yrs

    This program is designed to meet the children’s needs, which includes working on strength and flexibility. They will continue to work on the apparatuses, Floor, Beam, Bars and Vault. Learning new skills and having fun at a recreational level. This class is different to your average exercise/aerobics classes, as you will be using muscles in your body that would never have been used before. This is a fun/ fitness class.

Our gymnastics clubs as you can see offer both recreational and competitive streams of gymnastics training. This enables us to cater for those who wish to participate simply for the enjoyment, as well as those who wish to compete at a club, regional or state level.

Our clubs (Except the Redlands Club) are registered with Gymnastics Qld and are rated a 'Star 3 Club' (National Standard) within the Gymnastics Australia Club 10 framework. This means that we adhere to a strict set of guidelines for club management, coach education, and program implementation set out by Gymnastics Australia helping us to provide your children with the best possible classes. All our coaches are accredited with Gymnastics Australia and hold a current Blue card for working with children and a current Senior First Aid Qualification.
